Do not swallow your amen

Or shrink the life out of your laughter

For some guy who will leave you stolen

Fold your peace in a luggage,

To take to his grandmother’s grave

Do not spend all your kindness

On people who will leave you struggling to breathe

As they adjust their hurts through the roughs of life

Peeling battles off their bones to dress you

Scratching their words

Painting their truths

To home in your peace

Remind yourself to remember,

The birds will hoist your light forever

When you gift sun-energy to love self

Worship your own peace,

Like how the sun worships the earth,

Feed on the memories of good old yesterday

Tailor joy on the skins of your tomorrow, and

Spend it with good people who’ll forever be good.
