Cactus skin

Plastic spine

Hills on ashes

Balderdash

You and me

Teach me what a smile is

I want to live life loving to live it

Turn graveyards into sunflower fields

Forge feathers on wars to soften them

Spongy hearts, raindrops on the runway

This soul is fighting to be innocent again

Herbal teas

I am as naked as joy

Last night I felt my father’s presence

I became a museum full of memories

Shadows of time stood on my feet

Oozing peace out of every loophole

Fear is a callous bastard, sleepless

I think I’ve written this poem before

Pickles and time

Tell me if you think my skin has cactuses

If the words I pour are all cantankerous

Cohesive, meant to drown your stares

I have fought on this battlefield before

Left my blood on your cracked mirrors

With a hole in my heart the size of a flute

A mouth full of poems asking forgiveness

Glass eyes burning, body on the highway

Reeking, I am not ready to say I love you

Cactus skin

Plastic spine

Hills on ashes

Balderdash

You and me
